hanging out in the house

April is right around the corner, which means we hardly turn the heat on anymore- many thanks for our smaller utilities bill but Millie isn't the biggest fan.

We are off to NH and Maine this weekend to visit friends and family! I'll post pictures of our journey when we get back!

I really love this song. Thought I would share.

Cameron thinks I do mean air harmonica to this song's intro... some day some day I will do the real thing...

A mustache that lived less than 24 hrs

Cameron's mustache that lasted from Friday night to sat afternoon! He had some fun while shaving his beard! Too funny. Not sure what the dog thought about it...

smiling with your eyes

I have been watching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon- on hulu (since we don't have a tv, nor the will to stay up that late!)

and I thought this was a really funny moment on the show from last week!

Enjoy and let me know if you can "smile with your eyes!"

Hunter and his girlfriend Ashley came down to my folks house on Friday from the big Apple! We had brunch before they headed out for Richmond for a weekend wedding!

Here they are with Granny and Grandad.
Awe! now all the family from the uk and the west coast are up to date!  Have a great weekend!

A hat for... ME!

First off- excuse my tired, tired face I made this post shortly after waking up!
SOOOO I made a hat for me! IT had been a long long time since I have knit anything for myself and after completing it I can think of someone I might give it to, so we'll see!
Originally it was not suppose to even be a hat! I wanted to make myself a collar- similar to the one I made for my Aunt- see earlier post.  I had this great white yarn I bought off of ETSY and my intention was to make something I could throw on during these weird in between- spring time months coming up- where we have a 50 degree day then a low 40s..
But it didn't look right as a collar- too grungy and did not show off the cool white yarn I bought (it has metallic blues and silvers in it!) SO I closed it up and made it into a big slouchy hat.
Cameron and I joke that it's my Rastah hat. Which I don't "love" but it's funny! Since the yarn I bought was only 75 yds long I used a lot of other yarn to make up this hat. I recycled! I used the left over yarn from my sister's gray hat, the gray from Liam's skull hat, the white from the hat Cameron knit, etc.  It's nice to use up all the bits. And it doesn't look TOO mis-moshed.

I am making a lot of progress on the sweater I wrote about- I might go to the yarn store on Sunday for some help. I'll keep you posted!

A hat for Liam

Thursday I made a hat for Liam- with a skull on it. My first attempt at two colors in a shape like this.  Of course when I gave it to him today it was 68 degrees out, but you never know we might get another cold spell.

I used Lamb's pride, which I made the red swiss miss and the yellow hat for Mia out of. Its really great wool and nice colors.

Like a Lion!

March has come roaring in like a Lion with Delaware's annual snow storm, that's right we get about one big one and this was it, for now at least. Cameron and I went to my folk's house and Cameron helped my Dad with the driveway. Later they went around and plowed for some of the neighbors. How neighborly!
Poor Millie, I was a jerk and threw her toy out in the snow so I could get this picture of her with snow all over her face. We had almost 6 inches and that easily came up to her chin, so watching her maneuver around was pretty funny!
Some recent knitting projects I finished in the last two weeks. The gray hat- I made for my sister. Complete with three rows of bobbles, which were new for me! Thank you youtube! I made the hat out of gray baby alpaca- soft stuff! The gray cowlneck/scarf was for my Aunt Deb who is here visiting for the week from the UK, and the brown hat is for my Uncle Roger. Now that they own a dog and live on a farm in the country- I thought they might need some warm gear for those long walks!
Here is my Aunt Deb in her cowl-neck/ scarf this weekend. She spruced it up with the addition of a pin. This was made from the same gray baby alpaca yarn. I made it on round 10, or 11 needles- cast on about 130 and then decreased after a bit- hence the bottom part is really big, which is nice if you are wearing a v-neck- it will really cover you up! Then I decreased one more time at the top- so she can pull it above her nose to protect it from the elements!

I'll post pictures of my sister in her hat if and when she sends me one!
