Weekend Project: Knit Easter Eggs and More

This weekend I might start knitting up some little trinkets for the babe's easter basket. These Easter Eggs are darling and a great use for bits of leftover yarn.

And since she already has so many bunnies, maybe I'll knit her this little lamb!?

I'm also thinking about knitting a few little birds or insects from this great book. I hope you have a great weekend! Let me know if you make anything?

I'm on Instagram

With my awesome phone upgrade, I am now on instagram- a bad-A** i phone app that allows you to instantly share little photos with your friends etc. I'll admit it's the first app I downloaded and I'm trying to be conservative with my usage, but it's hard. And then today I left my phone inside and missed the cutest exchange between the baby and the dog, dammit, it was so cute! anyway, here are a few of my favorites. My username is "tiptoethrough" let's follow!

Above: a little spring organizing in my closet yesterday, had to find a pretty spot for the new tunics my sister sent me.

Classic. She loves looking upside down through her legs.

we borrowed my brother's sweet ride on Sunday to pick up lumber for our garden beds.

if she could talk, she would ask for five more minutes in bed.

The babe's friend came over on Sunday and they got to smooching, pretty cute.

this week has been full on sunhat weather...

Links and Such

Hey there, soooo how's it been going? The above quote is my mantra this week... things started slowly breaking on Saturday and even up until today. I'm not speaking in metaphors here, I'm saying that stuff has literally been breaking... pro ejemplo- I go to retrieve a pen from the cute vintage ceramic pencil holder and all of the pens are busted through the base of the jug... and the list goes on. Frustrating that I have to add new crap to my to do list which I never make a dent. And the pillows I'm working on are not progressing as fast as I had hoped, and the other night it felt like every project hit a road block... My solution- to veg out on pinterest and try and chill. So these links are the result of my chill sessions this week. I hope you like!

What I learned this week and it's only Tuesday

(my weekly motherhood post, written with the idea that as mothers we process and learn so much every single minute of every day...)

* having a toddler is like having a pet monkey- the random shrieking and jumping all over you, climbing on you and sticking their hand down your shirt. (I'm hoping to not add throwing poop to this list)

* speaking of poo- I'm now in the "baby pooped in the bathtub" club, I like to think I handled it well... ; / (it was like witnessing a water birth)

*  I think we mark a baby's life in months even after a year, because each month is a huge accomplishment for everyone involved.

* to promote her solo play time in her room, dancing around playing follow the leader seems to show her other areas she can play with- for an additional 10 seconds! ; )

* We taught her "Thank You" and "please" which she uses now instead of saying "up", she will now just say "peeeese". And when I ask her is she wants more food she says "Thank You" as opposed to yes, pretty cute.

* That no matter her age (16.5 months) she will still put dirt and rocks in her mouth. (this current phase of teething is so intense she tried to chew on my shoe during a diaper change! this is very odd for 16 months! lol )

* This shrieking phase is just what it is, it's going to suck and I might be under the disillusion that I can make it go away, but like other odd kiddo things- this might just be one we have to wade out until her language picks up filling in the frustrating communication gap.

Make yourself a dress- with these fun patterns and tutorials

I've busted out the sewing machine this week to whip up some handpainted pillows for my studio shop (hope to have them up by the end of this week!) and in the process I've been thinking about sewing dresses for myself once again... So here's a little round up of my favorite pins. Which one would you make? I would love to make the portfolio dress- it would be a fun challenge to say the least, not to mention a great go to dress, love the pockets! Check out more DIY projects on my pinterest Board.

A Love Letter to Spring

Hi gang! Hope you all had a great weekend mine was good, even after complaining about why I hate Saturdays! Sunday was our weekend- and we spent the morning going to Lowes to get wood for our garden and then our friends came for dinner!  It was a really fun day. Here's to a great week, beginning with a little Monday inspiration visual spring delight parfait... er something.

"What's A Weekend?" IE why I Dislike Saturdays

I wish I suffered from Maggie Smith's ignorance about a weekend... and in an ironic twist I do. I'm sure most other mom's feel my sentiment?! There is no real break from motherhood... you simply have to adapt to the little mini vacations you get throughout the day. It's like the first birthday I had as a new mom- it was my 30th, thus it should have been extra special and in fact it was extra NOT. Baby's don't give a crap about special occasions, this goes for one's first Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas with a baby and thus a Saturday means nothing to them as well. And after the some what numbing predicability of my week of childcare, one would hope that Saturdays would offer a break of some sort... an adventure (even the baby can come along lol). But no, I hate Saturdays because the husband works on Saturdays... a 13 hour shift in fact, so no I have no idea what a weekend is and neither does he... I'm looking forward to the time when a weekend will feel adventurous, lord knows when that will be!?
