Sofa Makeover Featured on Re-Nest

What's been going on?
I thought I would throw in a little "personal" blog post here to share what's been going on! As some of you may know, last week we moved from Portland Maine to Wilmington Delaware. It was a process indeed! last time we moved (back in April 2010) I was 4 months pregnant and this time we had a four month old, sheesh. But it all worked out very smoothly. We opted to move with ABF moving containers- as seen above- and it was the best decision. We were so organized that we were able to load them up in 1.5 days! (thanks to the muscle and dolly of our friend Steve!) I recommend moving this way- it allowed us to drive together and since our containers are in storage for a bit, we got a break and didn't have to unload them right away.
Our last Tuesday in Maine, the little miss waking up after doing some last minute errands around town.

We camped out the night before and slept on the floor with our double sleeping bag and loads of blankets, it was quite comfy actually. Pup and baby slept in that day- allowing the husband and I to run around cleaning the apartment and shoving last minute things into the containers! These two were awesome the whole week.
And when they did wake up, the play-mat proved crucial as always.
After repacking the car at our friend's house, we left portland Wed night at 9 pm. It was a surreal moment to drive out of the city that has felt like home for the past two years. (still processing all this) The drive went smoothly, we stopped once for gas and to feed the baby and then managed to drive the rest of the journey without any stops - total drive completed in 8 hours. Pretty impressive with a 4 month old and a car weighed down with a ton of crap. You can look back on our time in Maine HERE.

18 Weeks Old
The little miss is 18 weeks old today. A lot has gone down in the past week- we moved from Maine back to Delaware so the husband can eventually go back to school. It's been a mini journey so far, even for the little one! She has grown so much over this past week- not only in size, which seems to never hit a plateau, but also in her development. Being around more people than just boring old mom has been really good for her. Today we took a break from our major to-do list and went for a walk in the park where we were married- almost three years this June! It was a nice moment of perspective to look out on to the same view (only brown) with our daughter plus the dog ;) Teething is in full regalia so that's "fun". But she is handling it like a champ, a champ who freaks out at random moments! Yes motherhood is proving educational in so many ways.
Below is the song I mentioned in last week's 17 Weeks Old blog post. I made it up during burp time to help with the fussy and uncomfortableness that can accompany burping... there is also a song for diaper changes too (I'll spare you!). I read that singing to your baby helps with language development. And in my newborn class the instructor suggested having a different song for each activity... it's comforting and helps establish a routine. I end up singing to her all the time not only does she seem to like it, but it also helps with my sanity ;) This week's new favorite- I love to laugh, from Mary Poppins. Anyway, the most important point here is we captured her smiling on video!

Green Living: Terrariums
Now that March is here we have begun scheming about our summer garden! We have been invited to have a little plot at my brother's house and at my parent's house too (well in all honesty my parents don't know about this yet!). In the meantime terrariums are a great way to have a little green in your life while the ground begins to thaw. Terrain has some great Terrariums to inspire you and West Elm has jumped on the lovely trend with their hanging glass bubbles. And as always I turned to etsy to find some nice terrariums. I recommend doing your own search on etsy, it's a great way to repurpose an old glass container giving it new life while bringing a little green into your home while purifying the air.
